Increase the max character count allowed for Field Name in Manage Fields to be greater than 100 characters
Some questions we ask on the form need to be explained in detail and often exceed the 100 character limit. Would like to see the 100 character max increased to 150 characters.

That’s why we added help text for those fields. I understand your perspective, but from a functionality standpoint, longer field names can actually create more confusion based on feedback we’ve received from other users. I’ll keep this idea open so we can explore making it a configurable setting at the school level. It’s worth noting that this change would affect not only the request form but also various reports throughout the system which long field names also caused issues.
Hello, with the October 2025 Release (25.5) the field length was not increased, but reduced to 50 characters. It was suppose to be increased from 100 characters to 150, but now has a limitation of 50 characters.
The issue now is that the field description will be even more vague due to the new field length reduction and I am concerned that we are now going to get more phone calls when requesters are filling out the request form and\or they fill out the form incorrectly and we have to follow-up with them. Although the new information functionality is good, a number of users will either not see it or just ignore it completely and call us with questions about fields they are not certain how to fill out.
I would not plan to edit any of my current fields, but I sometimes need to add\replace people who need to be additionally notified. This action will cause me to have to change the field, and in many cases reduce the current description to fit the 50-character limit making it vague.
Disappointed that the functionality\flexibility has now taken a step backward instead of forward for Fields.
We're working on this - It was causing issues with reports breaking, so we prevented them from being used temporarily. I have this placed for our following update.
This is so frustrating. I can't ask the question in a way that gets me to the information I need because the character count is limited. Also in some cases a single quote, double quote, comma, semi-colon, and percent symbols are needed for proper grammar and sentence structure. Why can't we use them?
Some of our field names seem to be limited to less than 60 which definitely needs to increase. When trying to update a field name, it does not allow it.
